In her previous role as a College Recruiter, Allison was actively engaged in mentoring students and encouraging career exploration and job shadowing. Her own career path is a testament to the importance of aligning one’s skills, talents, and goals with their career aspirations.

This past year, she immersed herself in the sales function through collaboration, mentorship, and job shadowing. These experiences equipped her with the necessary skills and knowledge to transition smoothly into her current role. Q&A with Allison

Q: Can you share a bit about your initial role at Ferrara and what drew you to the company?

AT: I was drawn to the CPG industry when I started at Ferrara. I really liked the fact the even though I was early in my career I could make an impact at the company. I was also drawn to having other women in leadership roles to look up to. As an intern I was surprised that I had the opportunity to work on impactful projects that allowed me to explore my interests and make a difference at Ferrara. I always tell interns that a few years at Ferrara gives you more experience than many other CPG companies, thanks to the rapid growth and opportunities. Ferrara has more of an individualized talent approach where each person in the company makes an impact day to day.

Q: What were some of the key milestones/Ferrara Programs that impacted your journey from College Recruiter to your current position as a Category Leadership Analyst?

AT: One of the key milestones was participating in the Sweetpair mentorship program, which connected me with leaders across various functions, particularly in sales, which I was interested in. My role in HR and Talent Acquisition also gave me insights into the different functions and potential career opportunities within the company. Ferrara’s One Community mission fosters a culture of job shadowing, making it a normal and encouraged experience for all employees who want to learn more about the organization and different roles.

Q: How has Ferrara’s career lattice model, as opposed to a traditional ladder approach, benefited your career development?

AT: I think professionals continue to develop as their career progresses. I am grateful to know that Ferrara will support my career in whichever direction it evolves, and I am not limited to the function that I started in and do not need to leave the company to explore different opportunities in different functions. Especially early in career as you are gaining different tools, experiences and knowledge it’s motivating to know that those experiences will help evolve your career organically rather than being confined to one function like in a traditional ladder approach.
